Don't just hit the notes, Tell the your story!

Who's Sunny?!
Hi, I'm Sunny and I've been singing for most of my life. Although i've always had a high voice, I had challenges with disappearing notes, scratchy voice and vocal strain. In college, I began to study classical music and opera. When I made the shift back to contemporary music to use my voice for jazz, my voice broke! I lost notes in the middle and it became inconsistent throughout. Thankfully i was living in one of the most vocally resourceful cities in the world for college - New York City. I tried coach after coach after coach from classical to Broadway to gospel yet something stilll ws missing. I left each teacher with a better understanding of their style or new songs for my repetoire but my actually instrument refused to grow. Frustrated, I took my research into my own hands and began to research vocal pedgogy and anatomy. After learning about my instrument, I began to understand clearly that most vocal challenges begin at the anatomy level. However, most of my coaches skipped this step or skimmed over it and jumped right into style. After noticing my improvements, other singers began to approach me and I began to teach the art of healthy singing to singers of all styles. After over 15 years of teaching and getting students into competitive college programs, preparing them for big performance dates or coaching them through recordings as a vocal producer, I still begin with an artist first approach. As a vocal researcher, I believe that with the study of vocal anatomy as the foundational learning step, literally anyone can learn to sing!
